Job Summary
We are seeking a Sr. Web Applications Developer with experience building and supporting high-profile, highly interactive, extremely fast customer facing web applications. They will know core web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and will be able to show examples of sophisticated front-end solutions they have developed. They will have integrated well-designed front-end architectures with template frameworks and complex back-end data and content management systems. They will have worked side-by-side with team members in design and engineering to deliver highly scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the development of all RootMetrics branded website properties (including but not limited to branded consumer website, customer portal, localized International sites, microsites, landing pages, etc.)
• Evaluation, conceptualization, design, and development of major new capabilities and implementation of new technologies
• Hands-on development and support of engineering solutions which deliver an outstanding and highly-performing user experience for all web-based properties
• Localizing brand website for new market entries
• Determine build or buy CMS solution to best service all web-based needs
• Build new websites from the ground up utilizing RootMetrics design and brand style guidelines
• Drive continuous improvements in performance, scalability, reliability and usability
• Build, manage and mentor a website development team

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• 5+ years developing and delivering customer facing web and mobile experiences
• Extensive work with JavaScript and JS Frameworks (like JQuery, DoJo); and work with JS micro frameworks
• Strong command of essential front-end web technologies including HTML5, CSS, HTML methods and properties
• Solid understanding of mobile UI design and best practices, application architecture principles (client-side scripting, web service tiers, database storage, caching, etc)
• Understanding and experience with data manipulation technologies such as web services, REST, JSON, SOAP, XSD, and XML
• Knowledge and skills in object-oriented design as applied to user interface development including software design patterns
• Experience with one or more MVC templating frameworks (Django preferred)
• Understanding of cloud-based deployment architectures (Amazon’s AWS preferred)
• Experience with source control management tools such as Git or P4
• Experience with developing for mobile form factors and/or progressive enhancement techniques
• Solid understanding of cross-browser/platform issues and code solutions, as well accessibility and SEO considerations
• Knowledge of web security techniques and best practices
• Strong ability to translate requirements into quick prototypes for iterative user feedback
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and group presentations)
• BS in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
