Software Design Engineer, Mobile

Agilysys is looking for an experienced Software Design Engineer to be one of the first members of a new mobile Point of Sale (POS) team we are building in the Seattle area. The ideal candidate is passionate about mobile devices, with a near term focus on Android. You’ve created native and/or HTML5 apps for Android and you’ve shipped commercial mobile applications to the delight of customers. You agonize over the user experience, wanting to make it as easy to use as possible. You’ve worked in an agile environment and love to work collaboratively with Program Management and Test. You’ve rooted phones and played with custom ROMs. You are well versed in Java and the Android SDK and you understand the nuances of the different OS versions. You keep abreast of relevant blogs and product announcements.

Responsibilities
•Work closely with Program Management, Test and UX Designers in the definition and execution of the features for our product
•Work collaboratively with your story team to create the best possible solution for our customers
•Working with UX Designers, implement engaging, intuitive user experiences
•Participate in and own delivering high quality software with customer focused features
•Own or review component level designs
•Ensure Agile software engineering best practices are utilized and continuously enhanced
•Ensure appropriate unit test coverage for product source
•Be a competitive application and device expert for the team
•As a key product stakeholder, be willing to do whatever is required to help out the team

Requirements
•BS in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
•Considerable programming experience in Java, Objective-C, C# or C++.
•At least 5 years as a software developer of a commercial software product
•At least 1 year of recent, commercial mobile software product experience on Android and/or iOS
•Deep technical knowledge of mobile application development (Android or iOS)
•Experience building products from vision to delivery
•Have taken multiple software products to market, preferably localized for global delivery
•Ideally, have developed Point of Sales software and solutions before
•Have worked in an agile environment, preferably SCRUM or Kanban, and ideally have defined and/or iteratively improved on the process for your teams
•Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, analytical and problem solving skills
