Senior Software Engineer/Architect

The ideal candidate will have completed a minimum of a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience, have experience programming in Java or developing web applications with a modern opensource framework and a passion for writing code. Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for designing and implementing various parts of a complex web-based J2EE applications. Work in a team-oriented iterative development Scrum process of analysis, design, code and test. Collaborate and work across many teams . You will be leading or be a lead developer of a team creating a web applications for the Life Science sector. Knowledge in bioinformatics, Genomics and/or Proteomics are a plus but not required. The responsibilities of a 5AM SEII are:

Makes the strategic, technical decisions for the project
Responsible for the high level design of a system
Responsible for the Software Architecture Dosument (SAD)
Tech lead or lead developer
Creating/Implementing the application architecture
Implementing classes and methods in Java
Identifying issues and forming hypotheses
Formulating and implementing recommendations/solutions
Ensuring the client receives the assistance needed to understand the recommendations/solutions
Managing projects and programmers
Leading and managing those within the team, including analysts and testers
Management of client relationships

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for building quality software right the first time.

Minimum 10 years application development experience using J2EE

Be proficient or have at least a working knowledge of various technologies we use in our applications (training will be provided on tools where necessary):

Struts 2.x
EJB 3.x
Hibernate 3.x
JBoss 4.x
MYSql 5.x
Eclipse, Subversion
UML Modeling tool e.g. Rational Rose, Enterprise Architect
3-Tier architecture and design, object oriented programming techniques
Excellent analytical/problem solving, organizational, and time management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain ideas to both management and technical audiences
