Position Charter & Experience

The BenefitPoint development team is looking for a Senior Web Developer to lead the design of our next generation front-end architecture, figure out the best way to replace the old and outdated with something new and efficient and help create a roadmap that will get us there. Share your knowledge with team members, recommend improvements to user experience and advocate for doing things the right way.

Key Accountabilities

Participate in the design and development of key architectural aspects of BenefitPoint.
Be responsible for designing and developing key front-end features.
Build modular frameworks, design efficient solutions and write elegant code.
Factor into your work scalability, availability, security, deployment and integration.
Actively participate on a Scrum team, helping to complete any tasks.
Provide fact-based estimates for user stories and assigned tasks.
Create use cases, technical specifications, release notes, and other documentation for application functionality as needed.
Research functional issues and develop solutions to the problems.
Research and understand the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues.
Research new technology or development tools to remain current.

Professional and Technical Competencies

5+ years of relevantexperience in web development.
Strong, current experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS and AJAX
Experience using jQuery and other frameworks (YUI, Dojo, etc…)
Experience working in the Java stack (JSP, JSTL, MVC)
Experience building code and deploying a web application to a sandbox environment.
Experience with SCM using SVN, GIT or CVS.
Experience consuming and publishing to web services from the front-end.
Recent experience with Scrum or other Agile methodologies.
Ability to champion good design methodologies and patterns.
Experience in Java development a plus.
Capable of quickly troubleshooting, analyzing and resolving issues that arise during development or in production.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work with other product developers, business analysts, testing specialists and product owners to create stellar software products.

Education Requirement

Bachelor’s degree required.
Web Development certifications preferred.
