Responsibilities
The Senior Designer is responsible for creating cutting-edge comps, promotional assets and interactive applications for the major brands that comprise Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online, including (but not limited to) Disneyworld.com, Disneyland.com, Disneycruise.com and DisneyParks.com.
A Senior Designer is collaborative, thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is adept at juggling multiple projects. Strong communication skills are a must. Also, a Senior Designer is capable of clear, concise, and compelling verbal and written communication. So you should be able to explain complex ideas to internal and external partners and leaders alike—this includes articulating design concepts and pitching ideas in order to secure approval of creative decisions on projects.
As a natural extension of strong communication skills, your portfolio and resume demonstrate a proven expertise in providing effective art direction on projects of various sizes. Additionally, you possess expertise in estimating projects and facilitating meetings.
Since leadership is key to the success of a Senior Designer, you should demonstrate a proven ability to understand complex business problems, articulate Visual Design thinking and work related to these challenges and proactively provide a solutions-based approach towards working around any roadblocks or obstacles.
You have proven expertise in Photoshop and Illustrator with a solid working knowledge of Flash or After Effects. Traditional illustration, storyboarding and presentation software (e.g., Keynote and PowerPoint) are a definite plus.
Basic Qualifications
• 8+ years of interactive/web experience
• Previous experience providing art direction on projects
• Previous agency or studio experience
• Capable of translating cutting-edge “blue sky” ideas into tangible, executable designs that meet business objectives
• Highly organized and capable of creating files that are easily deployed to the Tech or Dev departments.
• Experienced at creating storyboards, mood boards and color explorations
• Proven knowledge of design and typography
• Up-to-date on current and emerging trends in the online medium
• Capable of designing UIs that can be translated to multiple mediums, including web, online and mobile
• Must have an understanding of information design, information architecture, content strategy and user experience
• Strong communication skills
• Capable of effectively presenting, defending and articulating creative concepts to clients and team members
• Previous experience working with a cross-functional creative team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Adept at balancing multiple projects and deadlines at once
• Demonstrates a focus on problem solving and being solution-orientated
• Expert in Photoshop, Illlustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint and Keynote
• Working knowledge of Flash
• A basic understanding of HTML, Flash ActionScript, CSS and other web based technologies
Preferred Qualifications
• Traditional sketching, illustration or storyboarding skills
• Familiarity with After Effects or Maya
• Proven presentation skills (Keynote, Flash or PowerPoint)
Education
• BA or equivalent work experience with an emphasis in graphic, interactive or multimedia design.
