Senior Build Engineer

Blue Nile is seeking a Senior Build Engineer to join our QA and Release team. This position is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the build and release process for all software at Blue Nile, including the website. This is an opportunity to help motivated software engineers, DBAs, WebOps and QA engineers move towards continuous deployment. Your experience with best practices in software configuration management and release technologies will enable you to define standards and processes with the team.

The successful candidate has experience working with multiple technology teams, establishing standards, educating others, and working with minimal supervision while ensuring timely and high quality deliverables. A strong desire to lead process improvement is vital. Excellent communication, leadership and problem solving skills are required for success in this position.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain build and release automation
Continually seek out opportunities for process improvement
Establish and manage controls on test and production environments
Design automated techniques for creating and maintaining test environments
Develop a sustainable configuration management process to include change control
Create and manage a source code branching strategy to support new development and production releases
Identify, track, and report deployment metrics
Perform all test and release builds
Mentor other Build/Release Engineers
On-Call – In key chain of responsibility for any critical issue

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or other technical field
5+ years in software configuration management
Experience in maintaining and working with Windows and Linux environments
Experience planning and leading cross-functional teams through process changes
Knowledge of common environment and configuration issues with web based software
Excellent technical project management skills
Proficient in building and deploying Java web applications
Proficient with at least one scripting language, such as Groovy, Python, Ruby, Perl
Proficient in SQL, experience with Oracle a plus
Experience with Git or other source control system
Experience with Atlassian tool suite, including Bamboo a plus
Exposure to Oracle EBS or other ERP system
