Startup Weekend (SW) is an incredibly fast growing global organization, giving aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to experience entrepreneurship through weekend-long workshops being hosted in 90+ countries worldwide. We operate in all parts of the world from San Francisco to Nairobi to Shanghai, and we have grown 300% in the last year, with a global team of over 1,000 volunteers and supporters. Our core team of approximately 20 funky and fun-loving folks is headquartered in South Lake Union in Seattle, WA.

We’re looking for a passionate person to help the marketing team with a number of different responsibilities. We move fast and this person will need to be able to learn quickly and enjoy problem solving while executing on various tasks and projects.

Responsibilities:
Work closely with the marketing team to support internal and external marketing initiatives.
Work with the Marketing Manager and Chief Marketing Officer to understand what marketing means at Startup Weekend and discover ways in which we can continue to provide value to our Organizers, Facilitators, and attendees.
Be a problem solver, seek answers, and think creatively.
Update external marketing channels and social media
Blogging, must be an excellent writer and be familiar with WordPress
Social media: familiar with Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other major social networks
Interact with various groups in the Startup Weekend network across various online platforms and provide information when necessary (Good customer service instincts)
Construct and distribute quality newsletters and track appropriate metrics

Ideal Candidate:
An ambitious undergraduate or graduate student looking for hands-on experience in the social media/digital marketing field of nonprofits.
Marketing, Journalism, Communications or related fields majors a plus
Experience with social media tools a must. (MailChimp, EventBrite, Google Analytics, Hootsuite, etc.)
Organized, creative and efficient worker
Strong written and editing skills
Great sense of humor and an interest in changing the world and supporting entrepreneurs and the entrepreneurial ecosystem!

The Details:
We are looking for someone for a minimum of 10 -- 15 hours a week starting immediately and continuing for a 3-4 month period. The hours are somewhat flexible. We are located in the South Lake Union neighborhood, by the Amazon Campus.

As a non-profit we cannot offer pay but we can offer assistance in gaining college credit and will cover expenses related to your travel for Startup Weekend.
