Our core team of approximately 20 funky and fun-loving folks is headquartered in South Lake Union in Seattle, WA.

Communications Manager

Startup Weekend is seeking a highly motivated writer with experience and passion for storytelling. If you love entrepreneurship and innovation and writing about it, we want to talk to you.

Key Responsibilities

Writing & Content Creation
Create and maintain blog content calendars, including writing blog posts
Post relevant content and blog posts in accordance with content calendar
Identify guest bloggers and manage their submissions/content
Work with local organizers to collect & package stories from local events
Work with our PR firm on packaging stories and pitches for the press
Write guest pieces for major publications like Forbes, Huffington Post and more.
Work with marketing team to draft & edit content for social media channels, email, web & marketing reports.


Who we're looking for:
We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic about entrepreneurship and innovation and loves writing about it - in short, somebody who will value this opportunity. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and creative writing skills. They must be an expert with WordPress. If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, get excited about finding smarter ways to do things, and have a burning desire to be part of a close-knit team where you can truly make a difference, we want to meet you. Bonus points if:

You have been to a Startup Weekend event
You have written for a major blog or publication on entrepreneurship

The Details
We are looking for someone full time starting mid July in our South Lake Union office. We offer a competitive salary with bi-annual bonuses based on performance and full medical and dental coverage. Our work environment is awesome and we always have the kitchen stocked with plenty of complimentary drinks and snacks.
