Rich is co-founder and Executive Chairman of Zillow. He served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer from the company’s inception in 2005 until September 2010 when he passed the baton to Spencer Rascoff. Before co-founding Zillow, Rich founded Expedia inside Microsoft in 1994. Expedia was spun out of Microsoft in a 1999 IPO and Rich served as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Director until 2003. Rich is also co-founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Glassdoor, a social career and jobs community, where you can rate and review your company, search for jobs, and see how your salary stacks up internally and externally. He also is co-founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Seattle-based Trover, a mobile app helping people find and share their “discoveries” around the world. In addition, Rich dedicates time as a venture partner at Benchmark Capital and serving on the boards of directors at Netflix, Avvo, RealSelf, NextDoor, and YearUp. He is also an active angel investor with stakes in innovative startups such as Hotel Tonight, Hipmunk, Room 77, Decide, Qliance, Duetto, Seattle Bank, Revinate, and Frontdesk. Rich earned a bachelor's in General Engineering: Industrial Economics from Stanford University.
