(Microsoft Band)

More than two years after taking its Band fitness tracker off the market, Microsoft is killing off the accompanying health service for good.

From 2014: Can the Microsoft Band change my life?

On May 31, the company will remove Band applications from the Microsoft Store, Google Play and the Apple App store. It’s also pulling the Microsoft Health Dashboard applications and services.

Users will be able to export their data before it is deleted at the end of May. Microsoft also said that customers can still use their Bands, but none of the connected services will be available after May 31.

Some Band users may be eligible for a refund if the device is still under warranty, or if they are “active users,” defined as people who used the device between Dec. 1, 2018 and Mar. 1, 2019. The company has a FAQ page with more information.

In 2016, Microsoft scrubbed its online store of the Band, but it wasn’t clear at the time if it would ever be replaced.

Microsoft debuted the Band in 2014, joining the crowded fitness tech world with its own $199 wearable. The Redmond, Wash.-based tech giant continues to invest in the healthcare industry but with a focus on enterprise.
