If you’ve been waiting for an office with a window or a standing desk, you’re going to want to sit down for this one. Oh, you already are. Sorry!

Anyway, the Kickstarter for this item caught our attention this week after passing our singular criteria for Kickstarter items: Yes, the world could use that. Deskview is a window-mounted standing desk that creates a more inviting and healthy workspace for anyone who is tired of staring at a wall or the back of a co-worker’s head, or is having trouble getting HR to OK the price tag on a new work station.

The 25-inch by 15-inch working surface (available in wood, white or clear finishes) relies on two suction cups that adhere to a wall or window with the simple press of levers on either side. According to the Kickstarter video, those aren’t just any suction cups, they’re “the strongest, industrial grade suction cups on the market” and they give the laptop holder “unparalleled hold strength.”

Indeed, a stack of very thick books are shown piled on the Deskview, as is a smiling, full-grown woman.

Creators Jason Grohowski and Mike Bolos, who are shown seated, said that they decided to take a stand for those of us with lousy office views. Months of prototyping has led to this latest design, which has attracted 209 backers and a hefty $34,000 to eclipse their goal of $25,000 with a month still to go.

Backers pledging $165 can beat the eventual retail price of $199. Get your boss to stop staring out the window of her corner office and pledge $5,000 or more and 40 Deskviews could transform the lives of you and your cubicle pals.
