Alexis Ohanian.

LAS VEGAS — We know Alexis Ohanian is a geek. The entrepreneur co-founded Reddit and helped start companies like Hipmunk and Breadpig before co-founding a VC firm.

But what about his soon-to-be wife, Serena Williams?

GeekWire caught up with Ohanian at CES in Las Vegas on Wednesday as he checked out Toyota’s new concept car.

Ohanian is at the big tech show to geek out, of course, but the 33-year-old was also at CES in part because Reddit teamed up with Toyota to host a live stream of Wednesday’s announcement and related AMAs with R&D experts from Toyota.

Ohanian said he’s looking forward to self-driving technology, in particular because “hates driving” and doesn’t even own a car. He said he’ll be one of the first people in line to get a car that can drive itself.

Williams posted this cartoon to Reddit, announcing the engagement.

“I trust the software a lot more than I trust most people on the road,” he said.

Asked if Williams, the tennis superstar who announced her engagement to Ohanian last month — on Reddit, of course — is a geek like him, Ohanian took one second to think before responding with “yes.”

“She’s also very good at Bubble Bobble, which I found out the hard way,” he added. “She’s better than me at it.”

Williams certainly has some geek cred. She teamed up with Gatorade to launch an 8-bit game on Snapchat this past August. The 35-year-old, who is second all-time among women players with 22 Grand Slam wins and was the highest-paid female athlete last year, also appeared in a Code.org video last month that promoted computer science education and was a Wired guest editor in 2015. She also seemed to enjoy trying out Nike’s new self-lacing shoes:

Ok how incredible is this shoe!? More on the way on 12/20! @nike #hyperadapt

Ohanian has been a fixture in the tech world since launching Reddit in 2005. He left the company in 2007 to pursue non-profit projects and write his book, Without Their Permission. In 2015, he returned to Reddit’s helm with co-founder Steve Huffman and this year he launched the third fund for early-stage VC Initialized Capital.
