Cloud-based community platform Higher Logic has acquired the startup Kavi WorkSpace, the companies announced Thursday. It’s the second acquisition for a Portland-based startup this week.

Kavi creates a platform that allows organizations to collaborate. With its tool, Kavi Workspace, teams are able to securely manage products and documents online. The tool will be will be integrated onto Higher Logic’s platform under the acquisition.

Portland saw two tech exits on Thursday, with Verizon acquiring Skyward, a Portland-based startup that focuses on drone software.

In both acquisitions, the companies didn’t disclose the terms.

“As a collaboration tool, Workspace has excelled at bridging the gaps for organizational processes and helping people share and organize complex work,” Kavi CEO Dave Coryell said in a press release. “We look forward to bringing Kavi into the Higher Logic family of products and delivering a more complete community and collaboration platform to the market.”

While Kavi said the entire staff will continue to work with the acquisition, the company announced Coryell, a cofounder of Kavi, will be leaving.

This is the second acquisition for Higher Logic this year. In January, the D.C.-based company picked up Socious, a community software company. Both acquisitions give Higher Logic a stronger hold on the online community market.
