Surface and Xbox One

Hey, math majors, check out this equation: Students who purchase a Surface and Xbox One at Microsoft retail and online stores can save $300 on the package, meaning the Xbox is essentially free with the new promotion.

The bundle of devices for students, shown in the online store, starts at $878 and savings can add up to $499 depending on what you’re purchasing. Here’s what you get — if you’re eligible according to the fine print:

  • Your choice of Surface Book or Surface Pro 4.
  • Xbox One console, plus extra Xbox One controller.
  • Free select game of choice.
  • $50 Microsoft Store gift code.

On the store website, Microsoft calls the Surface the “portal to productivity” and says it’s been “engineered to be the ultimate classroom companion.” Just below that, the Xbox and its games, TV, movies, music, and sports allow students to “unwind after a late-night cram session.”

The deal is valid today through Aug. 14, or while supplies last and is part of a larger promotion aimed at the release of a Windows 10 Anniversary Update, coming Aug. 2.
