Those silhouetted iPod lovers dancing around on colorful backgrounds are an iconic part of Apple’s branding from 10 years ago. What’s noticeable, especially after the news that new iPhones would come without a traditional headphone jack, is the white wire dangling from the ears of the dancers.
In a fake ad for AirPods, Apple’s $159 wireless Earbuds, Conan O’Brien keeps the silhouettes and the dancing and the bright background. But the headphone wires are gone and, soon, so are the AirPods.
The dancers end up on the floor fumbling around looking for one or two of the devices that have fallen out of their ears. And a woman is shown repeatedly returning to the store to plop down more cash for new AirPods — which Conan’s ad calls “Wireless. Expensive. Lost.”
