TWC_Journey_iOS_iPhone_v2Say goodbye to the days of waiting hours around the house for the cable technician to show up at an uncertain moment.

Time Warner Cable is rolling out a new update to its TechTracker tool, in partnership with Seattle-based location technology company Glympse, that will soon allow Time Warner customers to track technicians in real time on a map.

Comcast previously partnered with Glympse to offer a similar service, called TechETA.

It’s similar to the technology used by delivery apps and transportation networks, like Uber. Time Warner customers will receive a web link unique to their appointment, sent via text or email. The enhanced TechTracker feature displays the technician’s name, photo, ID number, estimated time of arrival, and real-time location on the map.

“In today’s on-demand economy, people expect a new level of engagement from service providers, whether it’s waiting for their service technician or package delivery,” Bryan Trussel, co-founder and CEO of Glympse, said in a statement.

Time Warner is initially rolling out the enhanced TechTracker features in Southern California, and the company said it plans to expand across all of its service areas by the end of May.
