Karl Triebes, who served as executive vice president of product development and chief technology officer at Seattle-based F5 Networks, has resigned his position according to a Form 8-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
According to his LinkedIn page, Triebes spent 12 years at F5, which makes software and hardware that monitors and manages internet traffic. His bio in the leadership section of the F5 website says he was “responsible for overseeing the company’s technology roadmap and leading F5’s engineering team.” He was named Seattle Business Magazine’s “CTO of the Year” for 2015.
Prior to F5, Triebes was CTO and vice president of engineering at Foundry Networks in San Jose, Calif.
“For now I will be helping with the transition at F5 in an advisory role as well as spending a lot more time at home with the family,” Triebes told GeekWire. “I have twins who are starting their senior year of high school and didn’t want to miss out. I’m also taking to time to retool and rejuvenate as I look for new challenges and opportunities.”
Triebes said he will also continue to focus on supporting the Washington tech industry through his board participation on WTIA and tech workforce initiatives at Apprenti.

On August 30, 2016, Karl Triebes notified F5 Networks, Inc. (the “Company”) that he is resigning as Executive Vice President of Product Development and Chief Technical Officer of the Company, effective immediately. The Company appointed its current Senior Vice President of Product Development Ryan Kearny as its Interim Executive Vice President of Product Development and Chief Technical Officer. Mr. Triebes is expected to remain in an advisory role with the Company until January 1, 2017. The Company expects to enter into a release and consulting arrangement with Mr. Triebes, and it will provide information relating to such arrangement in a subsequent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, as may be required.
