In space, no one can hear you scream. But on Earth, they can hear you laugh, or say, “Whoa.” Which is what you should be doing if you take time to check out NASA’s new GIPHY page and Pinterest feed.
Lovers of GIFs should totally dig the spinning planets and blasting off rockets and busy astronauts that make GIPHY a much more fun universe to explore now.
NASA shared the news on Thursday, saying it encourages users to download and share the animated GIFs to “communicate a reaction, offer a visual explanation, or even create digital works of art.” Here I was, perpetually stuck on eye-rolling celebrities as my go to.
NASA, which says it engages and inspires the public by sharing unique content through social media, said its GIFs are accessible directly from the Twitter app. Click the GIF button in the Twitter tool bar and search for NASAGIF.
Over on Pinterest, NASA has 48 different boards containing almost 800 pins. The boards offer up pictures of everything from the planets to the solar system to galaxies, black holes, astronauts, asteroids, comets, the Mars Rover and much more.
NASA says that “Pinboards are often used for creative ideas for home decor and theme-party planning, inspiration for artwork and other far-out endeavors.” These images and graphics go beyond pretty pictures of wedding cakes and holiday DIY crafts — and could be a great resource for kids or anyone else putting together a presentation on space and science.
