azure logoMicrosoft said today that it will make its Power BI Embedded Azure service generally available on Monday. The service lets independent software vendors (ISVs) more easily create and manage large data-centric applications that include charts and reports created with Power BI, the company says. Power BI consists of a cloud service plus desktop and mobile apps that create visual representations of data.

When ISVs use Power BI Embedded to create apps, end-users don’t need Power BI licenses to use those apps. As part of the general release, software development kits (SDKs) for .NET and JavaScript will simplify development, and versioned REST APIs will ensure that developers are building to stable APIs, the company said.

Power BI Embedded was launched in preview last month.

Microsoft also announced that Power BI’s publish-to-web feature, in beta since February, is now generally available. That feature allows embedding graphics and visualizations created with Power BI into a web page or blog with a single click, the company said.

Update: Also GA today is the HDInsight tool within the Azure toolkit for the Eclipse development environment. Microsoft said the tool is meant to boost the productivity of developers building big-data Spark applications.
