event zero logoIT teams currently have to turn to third-party solutions for advanced Skype for Business diagnostics and analytics, but Microsoft has acquired one of those solutions to improve the experience for enterprise users.

Microsoft acquired the assets from Event Zero to improve management, reporting and analytics of Skype for Business Online.

“Our goal is to make the Skype for Business management tools as powerful and easy-to-use for IT professionals as Skype is for end users,” Skype for Business engineering vice president Zig Serafin said in a blog post. “In the future, using the technology acquired today, we will be able to add strong diagnostics and troubleshooting capabilities with even more extensive reporting and analytics for online audio, video conferencing and media streams.”

Microsoft acquired the assets from the UC Commander product suite created by Event Zero, but Australia-based company will still provide other Skype- and Lync-focused products to customers as a stand-alone operation.

“Microsoft was a logical partner for the technology,” Event Zero CEO David Tucker said in a press release. “I see the purchase benefiting more Skype for Business customers than Event Zero could possibly reach.”

The asset acquisition is the latest in a series of improvements and acquisitions related to Skype for Business. In November, Microsoft added more traditional telephone features to the program and it acquired Ray Ozzie’s Talko late last year in part to improve the mobile experience of Skype for Business.
