NEW YORK — GeekWire is live in the Big Apple, awaiting a series of announcements from Microsoft.

20161026_091734Today we expect to hear about a Surface-branded all-in-one PC, and we should learn about what Microsoft is planning for its next big Windows 10 updates. We’re live blogging the event below starting at 7 a.m. Pacific, 10 a.m. Eastern. For a full rundown of rumors and expectations, see our preview of the event from earlier this week. A live video stream is also available from Microsoft for anyone who wants to follow along.

The event may not match the flurry of new devices — Surface Book, new Windows smartphones, Microsoft Band — announced last year. But the Surface PC, a possible Amazon Echo competitor, and new software features make for an interesting slate of potential announcements.

Windows 10 updates and Surface PC details could emphasize 3D and virtual/augmented reality. A pair of leaked videos earlier this month showed a 3D feature for Microsoft Paint that could be an example of how the company’s mixed reality HoloLens device will interact with other Microsoft products. Another example could come with gaming. Earlier this year, Lenovo announced a pair of Windows 10-powered PCs that are VR ready and built for high-intensity gaming.

Here are a couple of things most Microsoft followers don’t expect: A Surface phone or new versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Book, a new Microsoft Band device or updates on the Xbox Project Scorpio. We also don’t expect much talk about Office, as Microsoft has scheduled an event for that next week.

All that said, we don’t any of this for sure, so you’ll have to tune in to find out. Check back throughout the day as we will be live-blogging the news here and will try out every device and program we can get our hands on.
