This week on the GeekWire radio show and podcast: Amazon unveiled the first-ever Prime freighter plane this week: Amazon One, a re-purposed Boeing 767 jet that was once a passenger aircraft.

It is the first in what will eventually be a 40-plane “Prime Air” fleet.

GeekWire aerospace and science editor Alan Boyle was on hand to report on the unveiling, and he joins us to explain what Amazon is doing, and why. Seattleites can check out the new plane during this weekend’s Seafair celebrations.

We also speak with Jeff Shulman, an associate professor at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business, about his new podcast, Seattle Growth Podcast. Jeff gives us his take on the positive and negative effect of Seattle’s blistering growth, including homelessness, transportation, and healthcare.

GeekWire’s Todd Bishop says he has a solution for all of this, which you can hear in the final segment of the show. John Cook says it will never happen.

Plus, check out our App of the Week, Picniic, and learn the answer to last week’s GeekWire Trivia Challenge, which won one listener a ticket to the 2016 GeekWire Summit.
