The Federal Bureau of Investigation said today that it won’t recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton over her e-mail investigation.

FBI Director James Comey said on Monday morning that while Clinton was “extremely careless” with her use of a personal email server for sensitive information, the bureau will tell the Department of Justice not to charge the presidential nominee.

“We cannot find a case that would support bringing criminal charges on these facts,” Comey said.

For more than a year, Clinton has been criticized for sending classified information via her personal email while she was Secretary of State — 110 total emails in 52 email chains, the FBI said today after investigating 30,000 emails.

“None of these e-mails should have been on any kind of unclassified system, but their presence is especially concerning because all of these e-mails were housed on unclassified personal servers not even supported by full-time security staff, like those found at Departments and Agencies of the U.S. Government—or even with a commercial service like Gmail,” Comey said in his prepared statement.

Ultimately, though, the FBI decided that “no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case” against Clinton over her handling of sensitive information. While the FBI’s “extremely careless” comment is damning, the agency’s recommendation “lifts an enormous legal cloud” from Clinton’s presidential campaign, The New York Times reported.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said last week that she would accept the FBI’s recommendation on the matter.
