audibleAfter hiring NPR’s VP of programming last May, Amazon is making another push towards original audio content. Audible, the audio book platform which Amazon acquired for $300 million in 2008, is currently hiring for almost 100 positions, many of them suggesting a large increase in original content.

Bloomberg Business also reported today that comedians Maria Bamford and Jonathan Katz are working on a series for Audible, and that the company has hired several producers from NPR shows and stations.

According to Amazon’s job portal, the majority of Audible’s new positions are in New Jersey, where Audible is based, with the remainder in various satellite offices in the US, Asia, and Europe. Many of the openings are in software development (30 in New Jersey alone) and technical project management. Audible is also hosting a career fair in New Jersey next week.
