Zillow Group announced today the sale of ActiveRain, the social network for real estate agents, to the Ben Kinney family of real-estate companies. Zillow Group acquired ActiveRain as part of its purchase of Trulia earlier this year.

“As part of Ben’s organization, ActiveRain will be a major focus, benefiting from Ben’s leadership and oversight, helping ActiveRain continue to flourish within the agent community,” said Zillow Group CEO Spencer Rascoff in a news release.

The deal also includes the transfer of Kwkly, a text-to-lead service, to Ben Kinney.

ActiveRain recently revamped its mobile approach to boost engagement as Facebook and other social networks look to foster niche communities. ActiveRain was founded by two Seattleites in 2006. Kirkland-based MarketLeader bought the company in 2010 before becoming part of Trulia in 2013.
