Zillow Group announced today that it would join the fray of tech companies amping up maternity and parental leave benefits for employees next year.
In an email from Zillow’s corporate communications office, the company told us that it would be offering up to 16 weeks of fully paid maternity leave, and eight weeks of fully paid parental leave to all full-time employees.
That is a significant increase. Previously, Zillow gave mothers 12 weeks partially paid for maternity leave, and the fully paid parental leave is a completely new benefit.
Additionally, Zillow will give all employees with a child on the way $1,000 in “Baby Bucks” to help buy the essentials.
“At Zillow Group, we take great pride in the fact that our benefits are an authentic representation of our company culture,” Camille Salama, Zillow’s manager, corporate communications and public affairs, wrote us via the email announcement.
“Our perks reflect what’s most important to our employees and their families, and our commitment is to providing them with a benefits program that is both competitive and comprehensive with a primary focus on encouraging work-life balance.”
Zillow is one of the latest to step up its benefits packages for parents, especially in this competitive job market. Just last week, we reported that Amazon boosted its benefits for working parents, “up to 20 weeks of paid leave for new moms, provide up to six weeks of paid leave for new dads, and offer employees the ability to ‘share’ their paid leave with a spouse.” These benefits include fulfillment and customer service center workers, too, not just the corporate office.
Microsoft announced its own reworked parental leave policy in August, which doubled the amount of paid time off for new parents — everyone gets 12 weeks of paid leave, and mothers get an extra eight weeks.
