Xbox One owners in the U.S. and Canada can now use their console to watch over-the-air TV without a cable subscription.
The new feature, already available in other countries around the world, will support live programming of channels like CBS, NBC, FOX, and PBS.
Xbox One owners will need to purchase a digital TV tuner to enable the service. Microsoft is partnering with Hauppauge to offer a $60 Xbox-branded TV tuner. You’ll also need an HDTV antenna, and Microsoft is offering a $99 bundle deal with the tuner and a Mohu Leaf 50 HDTV antenna together.
The company also recommends you go here to make sure you have adequate over-the-air TV reception around your home.
The Xbox One will let you access the over-the-air channels via its OneGuide, let you quickly switch between the TV programming and other apps, or use the “Snap” feature to multi-task. You can also pause live TV for up to 30 minutes or stream over-the-air TV to Xbox One SmartGlass.
Microsoft originally announced the feature last month.
