Microsoft is rolling out the first big update of 2015 for the Xbox One today, including a new “Game Hubs” feature that pulls together game clips, gameplay tips, leaderboards, information about friends, and other content related to each game available on the console.

It essentially creates a social network around individual games, with the ability for users follow games to receive the latest information about them in their main Xbox One activity feed.

The update comes as Microsoft tries to catch up to PlayStation 4 in overall sales. Despite a price cut for the Xbox One, the Sony console came out ahead in holiday console sales worldwide, extending its lead overall in the current console generation.

Other features in the February release include an update for the Xbox One controller that makes it possible connect to the console much faster after powering on — 2 seconds, compared to 4-5 seconds in the past, Microsoft says.

In the main dashboard, Microsoft is adding transparency to the tiles on the Xbox One home screen to make the user’s background image more visible. And for live TV, new features include the ability to see which shows are trending on Twitter or on Xbox at any given moment.

Here’s a Microsoft video with a rundown of the new features.
