As if you needed another reason to get a dog, Rover unveiled a new work initiative this week: If you work at Rover, you get a puppy.

As the Seattle startup writes in its blog post “Work at Rover.com and Live Longer,” the company’s benefits package now includes a puppy when you start working there, provided you don’t already have one, of course.

“Given all the research that says dogs increase happiness, improve moods, reduce stress, etc…we’ve decided to go all the way,” Rover CTO Scott Porad wrote to us. “This isn’t a developer recruitment ploy … this is for all employees. It’s about making Rover a great place to work. About doing work with a mission and a purpose. And about bringing the joy of a dog into the lives of everybody who works here.”

They estimate that about 15 to 20 employee dogs make it into the office every day. Studies do show that dog owners are healthier, fitter and happier, so this is one workplace perk we wholeheartedly support.
