In the battle of eagle vs. drone here, guess who wins?

This Australian wedge-tailed eagle — that region’s largest bird of prey with wingspans around 2 meters — decided to get a closer look and take a swipe at this drone, easily knocking it out of the sky.

Operated by Melbourne Aerial Video, the drone users reported that the “Eagle was fine — she was massive, and used talons to ‘punch’ the drone out of the sky. Hung around overhead so i got a really good look. Eagle’s health was my main concern also.”

They speculate that the eagle thought the drone was either a threat or dinner. It’s just one more lesson to never fly drones near wildlife if you can help it.

“If you see a bird of prey while flying. Land. I have added this to my operating procedure,” the Melbourne group states.

It’s not the first time a bird has attacked a drone. The Audubon Society reports that last October, YouTube user Christopher Schmidt posted his hawk attack that happened in Cambridge, Mass.
