Head on over to The Oatmeal today to see creator Matthew Inman’s life in 171 seconds.

As part of Saucony’s “Find Your Strong” campaign, Inman talks about why he runs, which is mostly an insurance policy of sorts to make sure he can keep on eating birthday cake.

In the video, Inman explains his spirit animal “The Blerch,” the “overweight, sad version of myself,” and watch him explain his transformation from a chunky kid with a “hunched over, T-Rex physique” to the runner he is today.

“I started running when I was 23 years old,” Inman says in the video. “It’s one of the very few things I can do that gives me a kind sense of peace. But when people think of runners, they think that I wake up and I do pilates, and then I have kale for breakfast. No, I wake up and I’m running because I have a hangover and I had like corndogs for breakfast.”

Seattle-based Inman is also the creator of the record-breaking Kickstarter game Exploding Kittens and the founder of the Beat the Blerch races.

Go to Saucony’s site to see more videos of people, including an astronomer, chef and musician, and what inspires them to run.
