An update on this battle for the ages: The LG Electronics executive accused of damaging competitor Samsung’s washing machine at a trade show has been indicted.

The indictment is now “escalating the feud between South Korea’s top consumer electronics companies,” according to this Reuters report.

LG confirmed that the head of LG’s home appliances division, Jo Seong-jin, and two other LG employees have been indicted by prosecutors following months of investigation. In the epic battle of the washers, LG initially agreed to pay for damages, but Samsung filed a lawsuit citing property damage and defamation. LG countersued, citing evidence tampering.

LG has also released this incredibly long video, showing surveillance from the show and the LG execs examining the washer. In a statement, Jo’s lawyer Ham Yoon-keun stated, “It is questionable whether there is sufficient evidence to prove that the president of a global company deliberately destroyed the machines where employees of the competing company were present.”

Of course, LG is still contending that the Samsung Crystal Blue washing machine, which sells for about $2,700, is poorly made with weak door hinges.
