A Kickstarter for a laser razor is promising that it can change the way we shave.

Called Skarp, the Swedish word for “sharp,” the razor uses newly developed laser technology to glide over skin. The creators claim that the hair just falls out, with no need shaving cream or water, and isn’t supposed to cause irritation, dryness or cuts.

In the past, lasers could only remove dark hair and didn’t work on gray or light hair, but the Skarp founders, with backgrounds in medical and cosmetic lasers, say the Skarp works on all hair types.

They also add the benefit of no longer using disposable plastic razors, or even razor heads, which will help the whole garbage problem.

Apparently, their target market agrees. The campaign has raised more than $689,000, well over their $160,000 goal, with nearly 4,500 backers and 20 days left to go. It costs $159 and is expected to ship in March 2016.
