Giant world powers, scrappy newcomers, and an atmosphere of Machiavellian ambition. That description might call to mind the treacherous universe of Game of Thrones, but it could just as easily be applied to the tech world.
Those similarities inspired Vanity Fair to create the hilarious video below, reimagining Silicon Valley in the Game of Thrones universe.
“Long ago, before the great crash, the vast world of the Internet was but a scorched wasteland,” intones the narrator. “In these dark times Kingdoms arose stretching out in broad bands of broad, broadband bandits.”
It’s such an apt metaphor, it’s not hard to imagine “Westeros or Silicon Valley” becoming a drinking game among Google’s rowdy interns.
The video is full of great one-liners. My personal favorite describes “an impetuous young warlord hellbent on nothing less than collecting his enemies faces in a book.”
