The good news for X-Files fans was that the show was returning. That much we knew.

The so-so news? Fox has announced that it won’t be back until next January.

The network states that the six-episode series will air after the NFC Championship game on Jan. 24, at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT. The “special two-night event” will continue with the next episode on Monday, Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

“The thrilling, six-episode event series, helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY, marks the momentous return of the Emmy- and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history,” the Fox statement says.
