In another battle for the ages, Tesla is putting its Model S P90-D up against a replica of the DeLorean from Back to the Future.

As Fast Company reports, the epic race is the idea of LA-based design agency Positron, which pitched Tesla on the idea that will also celebrate Oct. 21, 2015 — the date that Marty McFly time-travels to in Back to the Future II.

The race video will be released next Wednesday, the 21st, in a virtual reality experience that allows viewers to get a “first-person look from the cockpit at a race between the DeLorean and a Tesla Model S P90-D,” according to FC.

Positron told FC that it was shot using two custom rigs — one mounted on a drone — and 15 GoPros. The video will be released for Oculus, Google Cardboard, Samsung’s Gear VR and on YouTube’s 360-degree channel.

Which car wins?

“The Tesla can beat the DeLorean by speed, but of course, the DeLorean can time travel,” Positron’s founder/CEO Jeffrey Travis told FC.
