Remember a few weeks back when Tony Dyson, who built R2-D2, said that everyone should want a little robot in their house?

Well, prepare to want two.

At the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, Calif., a few weeks ago, the makers of Star Wars: The Force Awakens unveiled the latest droid — BB-8. An adorable little ball that also bleeps in childlike tones, BB-8 really steals the show in the video below (sorry, R2).

And while we don’t know everything — and everyone — behind BB-8, Boulder-Colo.-based Sphero, the folks behind the cute balls that connect to apps so you can play games, released this statement on their site, saying that they are definitely involved with the new Star Wars droid.

“While we can’t share many details with you at this point, we can say that it has been an incredible honor to work alongside Disney and Lucasfilm on one of the most exciting new characters added to the Star Wars universe,” they write. “Opportunities like this are rare. Once in a lifetime. We know this. And we know that our current fans, as well as our new Star Wars fans, will be expecting an extraordinary BB-8 experience.”

Sphero, a company that emerged out of Techstars — and nicely funded at that with more than $33 million — says that BB-8 is just the “beginning of a revolution in the toy industry.” You can follow more news about the development of BB-8 on Sphero’s site here.

Maybe Dyson was right — we will all have a little droid in our homes sooner than we think. All I can say is that I definitely want a little BB-8 rolling around my pad.
