Sprint wants to make it easier for customers to purchase or upgrade a smartphone.

The mobile carrier today debuted a new program called Direct 2 You, which essentially creates a Sprint store experience wherever a customer happens to be — at the office, at home, at a restaurant, etc.

car01_smallThe service, designed for those ready to upgrade their existing device, sends an email or text to a customers with an offer and lets them set up an appointment for Direct 2 You. Then, a Sprint rep meets the customer at a set location in a branded Fiat 500 with the new device in tow and helps them transfer content from the old device, which can also be traded in for Sprint bill credit.

Direct 2 You launches today in Kansas City and will arrive in Chicago and Miami by April 20, with other cities to follow. Sprint said there will be 5,000 Direct 2 You cars in operation by the end of 2015.

Sprint, which also now has a physical presence in old RadioShack locations, has engaged in other aggressive promotions in an attempt to attract new customers.
