rmi-screenRemote Medical International, a 12-year-old organization that specializes in delivering medical supplies and personnel to remote locations, today announced a $95 million contract from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Over the next eight years, the contract could grow to an estimated $300 million.

RMI will provide USAID and its partners with HIV rapid test kits that provide test results in non-clinical environments within 30 minutes.

“RMI is honored to work with the U.S. government in its ongoing effort to save and improve lives in developing countries,” said RMI CEO Brian Vincent, President in a press release. “In order to better accommodate the needs of USAID and other federal customers, RMI has opened an office in Washington, D.C.  Our new office is an important step in expanding our existing global footprint and leveraging our multinational expertise to continue to provide premier medical services to companies and individuals in remote locations on every continent.”

Vincent is a former venture capitalist at Paul Allen’s Vulcan Capital, and before that served as CEO of Quintessent Communications and president of Nextel International.

In 2013, RMI received $8 million in funding from Columbia Pacific Management.
