You probably already know that next week’s GeekWire Summit will feature an incredible lineup of speakers, including top tech execs such as Xbox chief Phil Spencer; Zillow CEO Spencer Rascoff; Concur execs Steve Singh and Elena Donio and outspoken venture capitalists Nick Hanauer, Greg Gottesman and Dave McClure.
Yeah, you’ve heard us yapping about that already. But let’s get to the really important stuff: The parties.
One piece of feedback we received at last year’s Summit is that attendees wanted more places to hang out and meet other awesome people. Well, we’ve got a great lineup this year, starting with a fantastic “Welcome Party” on Sept. 30th, hosted at the super cool new Pioneer Square headquarters of Chef.
The “Welcome Party” is open to all Summit attendees, and things will get rolling at 6 p.m. Heavy appetizers and drinks will be provided by Chef, and KEXP DJ Darek Mazzone will spin the tunes.
Even better, Chef CEO Barry Crist has challenged me to a ping-pong duel at 6:45 pm., with the “loser” donating $1,000 to the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship, an awesome STEM-oriented education non-profit which is the beneficiary of our Geeks Give Back campaign this year that we’re kicking off with Bank of America at the GeekWire Summit.
“Chef and GeekWire have a few things in common: we’re both full-stack tech geeks, we’re both rooted in Seattle, we’re both obsessed with community building, and we’re known to play a bit of ping pong in between coding/reporting sessions,” says Crist.
Sound fun? Make sure to get your GeekWire Summit tickets here, and join the festivities.
There’s a bit of construction around Chef’s new headquarters on Western Avenue, just a few steps away from Bertha, so check out this map for some key parking options.
The fun does not stop at Chef.
On the first day of the Summit, we’ve extended the breaks and the lunch to accommodate more networking time, and we’ve added an Opening Night party at Sullivan’s Steakhouse, taking place Oct. 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Located just one block south of the Sheraton Seattle, we’ll transform Sullivan’s into a retro gaming arcade, with some classic pinball machines and arcade games. Yes, it’s time to get your geek on — 80s style and polish those Pac Man and Galaga skills!
The Opening Night party is still available to sponsor, so reach out to GeekWire Chief Business Officer Daniel Rossi at daniel@geekwire.com if interested in getting your name associated with this fun party and hanging VIP-style with hundreds of tech geeks.
Our goal with this year’s GeekWire Summit is to make sure you leave informed, inspired and entertained, and quite possibly walk away with business contacts, future employees or investors. We hope you can join the fun!
Tickets are going fast, so make sure to get yours today.
