PicMonkey brought on Frits Habermann as its chief technical officer and vice president of product, the company announced today. Habermann will lead the online photo editor’s technology and product strategy as it expands after a $41 million investment earlier this year.

Before joining PicMonkey, Habermann served as CTO and head of product for Lynda.com. Prior to that, he was CTO and vice president of PopCap Games and served as vice president of core technologies at Adobe, where he co-founded Adobe’s professional layout application InDesign.

“We wanted someone with excellent product chops, operational depth and — the jewel in the crown — a passion for best-in-class photography experiences,” said PicMonkey CEO Jonathan Sposato. “Frankly, I don’t think it gets better than this.”

PicMonkey secured $41 million from Spectrum Equity in July. With that influx of cash, PicMonkey hopes to expand services for its hundreds of thousands of customers, in addition to growing its 25 million person-strong user base.
