dodgersThe Los Angeles Dodgers want to team up with startups and today the club announced a new accelerator program to make it happen.

As part of a unique partnership with the R/GA advertising agency, the Dodgers Accelerator will welcome startups focused on using technology to build sports-related products and services.

“The sports industry is ripe with opportunities for innovation,” Tucker Kain, Dodgers CFO, said in a statement. “There are countless ways for new technology to create more powerful consumer experiences, heighten fan engagement, and improve efficiencies. We’re thrilled at the opportunity to work with some of the best sports-centric startups from the LA area and across the globe.”

Here are some of the verticals the accelerator is interested in: fan engagement, fan relationship management, eSports, smart arenas, big data & analytics, fitness and youth sports, sports training, and sponsor integration, among others.

Participating companies will receive $120,000 in funding, workspace in Los Angeles, and access to mentors and support from the Dodgers and R/GA. Applications will be accepted until June 29 and 10 companies will be chosen. The 3-month program kicks off on August 17.
