minecraftcaliburgerIf you like Minecraft and burgers, there’s a new joint opening in Seattle that offers both at the same time.

The CaliDouble.
The CaliDouble.

CaliBurger is set to open its first North America location just west of the University of Washington campus on “The Ave” this month. The fast-casual restaurant, which serves burgers that will remind many Americans of the famous In-N-Out — CaliBurger was actually sued by In-N-Out for trademark infringement in 2011 — operates a handful of locations in Asia and the Middle East but has yet to break ground in the Americas, even though it was founded in Santa Monica, Calif.

One unique part of the Seattle location is a customized team-based version of Minecraft that customers can play on their smartphones and have the action show up on TV screens and video walls throughout the restaurant. The game features a “Cali Island” where players can interact with each other for a limited duration of play. There will be a leaderboard showing the top players, so gamers can compete with each other while eating food.

Another neat tech aspect of the eatery are wireless charging stations at each table so you can keep your devices juiced while you play Minecraft and enjoy your burger. Eater Seattle notes that there will also be mobile ordering.

CaliBurger will open up locations in Columbia, Maryland and Ontario, Canada by the end of year and will open another shop in Vancouver, B.C. early next year. The company bills itself as a “21st century revival of the classic California burger joint.” You can check out its menu here.
