Would you name your kid after Darth Vader?

Apparently, quite a few people did. Via Mashable, the latest numbers from the U.S. Social Security Administration in 2014 show that “Anakin” officially cracked the top 1,000 most popular baby names for boys, landing at No. 957.

Actually, this isn’t that surprising. If you peruse the entire list, you’ll see some fun ones, like some Guns N’ Roses fans who can’t let it go with “Axl” at No. 850, and “setting-up-my-kid-for-a-lifetime-of-entitlement” with “Adonis” at No. 726.

Despite Darth Vader’s total turn to the dark side thing, Anakin is a rather nice-sounding name. And with Disney totally rebooting the franchise and introducing it to tons of consumers, er, kids for generations to come, will probably only grow in recognition.

On the flip side for girls, “Leia” lands at No. 509.

Naming your kid after pop culture, of course, seems to be all the rage these days. In Britain, they’ve already reported a larger number of parents naming their children after popular Game of Thrones characters. According to the Mirror, “Arya” ranked high for girls, and even “Khaleesi” made the cut.

Just remember before you get all hopped up on naming your kid after your favorite character — they have to live with this for the rest of their lives.
