Microsoft_Surface Hub 4153_AMicrosoft’s giant touchscreen computer, the Surface Hub, won’t ship until Jan. 1, according to an update posted on the company’s blog.

Both the 55-inch and 84-inch models are delayed and won’t make the original Sept. 1 shipping date that was announced in June. The Surface Hub is designed for use in conference rooms, with full computing power packed into a touchscreen device, plus sensors and cameras for making presentations and sharing content.

The company announced in July that it wouldn’t hit the original ship date, and announced the new date of Jan. 1 today.

“Based on the early interest we see, we’re tuning our manufacturing process to prepare for production at broader scale,” the company said. “To do this, we are adjusting our product roll-out schedule to ensure we deliver a great customer experience and set our partners up for success.”

The 55-inch Surface Hub, with an Intel Core i5 processor, will sell for $6,999; and the 84-inch version, with a Core i7 processor and NVIDIA graphics, will sell for $19,999.

Preorders for the Surface Hub started in July, and Microsoft also announced thousands of new Surface Hub sellers last month.
