Sometimes we see something that’s so old-school wonderful, we have to share. The New York Times has made this delightful video about Jane Helser, the employee with the longest running tenure making footballs at the Wilson Sporting Goods factory in Ada, Ohio.

Recently retired, Jane started working there at age 19. For almost 50 years, she has made nearly 150 footballs a day — and she’s been to nine Super Bowls! “They say you don’t make a good football until you put a needle through your finger,” she says, laughing. “I’m tough.”

In this digital age of ours, it’s nice to sit back and enjoy some real craftsmanship. One look at this factory, down to its ancient sewing machines, and you will have an entire new appreciation for that pigskin come Super Bowl Sunday.
