In the race for a real hoverboard that you, the happy consumer, can actually get your hands on and ride, Lexus may be the emerging winner.
In this video, the subsidiary of Toyota says that they have made a real, rideable hoverboard. It’s called SLIDE, and this skateboard-size hoverboard is the fourth project in Lexus’ “Amazing in Motion” series.
Lexus’ site says they use “magnetic levitation” with “liquid nitrogen cooled superconductors and permanent magnets” to make it possible.
There’s no word yet on when this might be made available to the public. You can get updates on it by following #LexusHover. As you can guess, the response on Twitter so far has been pretty energetic. Let’s just say we want one, too:
