Last week, upon the launch of YouTube Gaming, Jimmy Kimmel took time to poke fun of the new site dedicated to watching world-class gamers.

Kimmel likened watching others play video games, something he said he only did as a kid when he ran out of quarters, to “going to a restaurant and having someone eat your food for you.”

Well, his comments making fun of the new site, plus a viral video, drew the ire of the gaming community online. More than 11,600 comments were posted, including a lot of hateful stuff.

Last night, Kimmel took on the haters and posted a few of the choicest comments about the “most disliked video we’ve ever posted to YouTube.” He shared comments like “you stupid fat boy people love watching people play video games,” to others wishing him death, and yet more that simply wrote stuff like “get cancer.”

Both gamers and Kimmel compare watching video gaming to watching professional sports, like football, which Kimmel says is also “dumb.” “I do it every Sunday, I know it is dumb.”

“But watching people play video games isn’t like watching people play football,” Kimmel continues. “It’s like watching people play fantasy football. It is one more step removed from human activity.”

With over 10,000 dislikes and almost 3,000 comments already fueling the fire, it looks like this new video won’t earn Kimmel any love from the gaming community either.
