Sanrio, home to Hello Kitty, has leaked a database of 3.3 million users’ accounts.
As Wired reports, news of the hack came over the weekend when the leak was discovered. Sanrio.com and other Sanrio websites including hellokitty.com have been compromised.
“The breached data included full names, encoded by decipherable birth dates, email addresses, and encrypted passwords, along with password reset questions and answers,” Wired reports.
The Sanrio site also operates as a retail shop for merch, and it’s still unclear whether financial data was leaked.
No official statement from Sanrio is online at this time, but if you’ve registered on the company’s site, you might want to change your password.
And remember, if you need a dose of Hello Kitty, EMP’s exhibit dedicated to 40 years of Hello Kitty cuteness is still on throughout the spring.
