We enjoyed having 300 of Portland's entrepreneurs at our meetup in August.

Attention Portland entrepreneurs, geeks, and everyone in between: Team GeekWire is headed to PDX.

We are hitting the road next week with our sights on the Rose City, where we’ll be attending TechFestNW. But before hearing from the conference speakers, we’ll be hosting an awesome after party as part of the fourth annual PDX Tech Crawl on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Join us at the On Deck Sports Bar & Grill in the Pearl District where you’ll connect with hundreds of fellow PDX entrepreneurs and enjoy tasty beers. Attendees for the Tech Crawl and After Party can RSVP here.

We’re excited to host this party for the third consecutive year, and it’s been fun watching Portland grow as a startup city in that time. PDX is full of fast-growing startups — some that have already been scooped up by tech giants, others that are well on their way to huge success, and several more up-and-comers.

techfest432“It’s an awesome place to build a company,” Lumen Learning CEO Kim Thanos told us when we visited Portland in the Spring. “It’s the right size of city that has enough resources, but it’s not that same kind of competition for resources, attention, and focus you see in the Bay Area and Seattle.”

Along with the flurry of new startups, there is also a recent pattern of big tech companies like eBay, Salesforce, Google, Airbnb, and more setting up satellite offices in the region.

There are also investment dollars flowing into the region’s startup ecosystem. At GeekWire, we are excited to cover all of the action.

Before the after party gets going next Wednesday, the PDX Tech Crawl will kick off between 5 p.m and 5:45 p.m. at CrowdCompass. Attendees can choose either the Product Track or the Agency Track — both will take them on a walking tour of company offices, many of which will be offering free food and drinks.

When 8:30 p.m. rolls around, you can head over to the On Deck Sports Bar & Grill and join us. We’ll be raffling off tickets to the GeekWire Summit, MusicfestNW and TechfestNW.

The entire crawl, including our after party, is free — but attendees must RSVP here.

geekwiresummit-logoDon’t miss this fun event, and make sure to come say hello to the GeekWire team, and tell us why you think your startup is going to take over the world. A big thanks to our sponsors, Wave and First Tech Federal Credit Union, for helping us host the party.

If you can’t join us on Wednesday night, make sure to grab tickets for the GeekWire Summit, presented by Bank of America and taking place Oct. 1-2 at the Sheraton Seattle.

Early-bird rates end soon for our biggest event of the year, featuring speakers such as Xbox chief Phil Spencer; Zillow Group CEO Spencer Rascoff; venture capitalist Nick Hanauer; New York Times reporter John Markoff; venture capitalist Dave McClure; award-winning science fiction writer Nancy Kress; former NASA astronaut and Sentinel Mission founder Ed Lu; DocuSign founder Tom Gonser; Glassdoor CEO Robert Hohman; Microsoft Research chief Peter Lee; and many others.
